Margaret Grey

Margaret Grey was the ninth dean of the Yale School of Nursing and is the school’s Annie W. Goodrich Professor Emeritus of Nursing. She also holds an appointment as professor of pediatrics and serves as a deputy director of the Yale Center for Clinical Investigation. Previously she held progressive academic and administrative appointments at the University of Pennsylvania and Columbia University. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh, an M.S.N. in pediatric nursing from Yale University, and a doctorate in public health and social psychology from Columbia University.

Dr. Grey is the author of over 410 journal articles, chapters, and abstracts and has received numerous regional, national, and international honors for her research. She was elected to the National Academy of Medicine in 2005 and the Sigma Theta Tau International Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame in 2014. She is the recipient of the Richard R. Rubin Award for Outstanding Contributions to Behavioral Medicine from the American Diabetes Association, the Pathfinder Award from the Friends of the National Institute of Nursing Research, Outstanding Nurse Scientist Award from the Council for the Advancement of Nursing Science, among many other distinctions. She was elected to the American Academy of Nursing in 1990.
