Mark A. Perazella
Mark A. Perazella is a professor emeritus of medicine in the Section of Nephrology, Department of Medicine, at Yale University School of Medicine. He previously served as training program director for the Nephrology Fellowship, medical director for the Acute Dialysis Unit in Yale New Haven Hospital, and medical director of the Yale Physician Associate Program and PA Online Program. He completed a six-year term as a member of the Nephrology Specialty Board for the American Board of Internal Medicine and served as co-education director for American Society of Nephrology Board Review Course & Update. He is co-editor-in-chief for the Journal of Onco-Nephrology, deputy editor for Kidney360, section editor in acute kidney injury (AKI) for Clinical Nephrology, and serves on the editorial board for several nephrology journals including Kidney International, KI Reports, and The American Journal of Medicine. He has written 344 peer-reviewed journal articles, numerous book chapters, and is co-editor for the textbooks Nephrology in 30 Days; Primer on Kidney Diseases; Current Diagnosis and Treatment: Nephrology and Hypertension; Onco-Nephrology; and Tubulointerstitial Nephritis. His clinical areas of interest in nephrology include medication-related kidney disease, cancer-related kidney disease (onco-nephrology), HIV-related kidney disease, acute kidney injury, urine microscopy in kidney disease, disturbances in potassium homeostasis, and complications in end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) such as nephrogenic systemic fibrosis and intradialytic hypotension.
