Support and Resources

The following support and funding is available to Koerner fellows who actively participate in and contribute to Koerner programs and the life of the Koerner community.

Computer Support

Remote and on-site computer support is available on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Three computer support specialists (Red Bergeron, Jeff Tillbrook, and Rich Walser) will rotate coverage at the Koerner Center. Service is provided on a walk-in basis (as available), but it is advisable to schedule an appointment by emailing emeritus@yale.edu or calling 203-432-8227. For assistance outside of on-site hours, contact ITS Help Desk  or 203-436-9000.

Teaching Support

The Koerner Center provides financial support for active Koerner fellows to teach a limited number of courses at Yale, with the goal of fostering teaching while freeing academic departments of any incremental costs. Course approval and faculty appointment processes reside strictly within the academic departments and the Provost’s Office. Compensation for teaching is set by the Provost and prorated based on the percentage of a course taught.

Fellows interested in teaching should work through the chairs of their departments, who will then coordinate approval with the appropriate provosts. The director, in consultation with the advisory board, will review all approved courses and determine which will receive Koerner support. Courses that do not receive Koerner support may be supported by the respective departments.

Travel and Research Support

The center provides subsidies for active Koerner fellows, as the budget allows, of up to $2,500 per person, per year, to fund research or to support travel to present papers at academic conferences. Proposals should be made in writing, should include a brief summary of the research or details of the presentation, and should be accompanied by an estimate of expenses.
